What I’ve Been Reading, My Current Reads

Hi guys, hope you are all doing well. Today, I thought I’d talk about what I’ve been reading lately, it’s been a while since I’ve talked about books on here. I’ve actually been reading a lot, I’ve gotten through so many books, autobiographies, novels, you name it, reading is one of my favourite things to do, it makes me so happy, I just love learning.

I’ve been reading Dirk Bogarde’s autobiography selection all the way from 1977 to 1998, I’m loving these books so far, I’m currently on my third book of the selection, it’s called An Orderly Man, I’m really loving it so far. So far I’ve read A Postillion Struck By Lightning and Snakes And Ladders, both wonderful books. If you don’t know who he is, basically he was a famous British film star from the forties, fifties and sixties onwards. I’ve seen some of his films he’s a great actor. I think some of my favourite films are So Long At The Fair, Darling, The Sleeping Tiger, The Woman In Question, Doctor In The House And Doctor At Large. He also happened to be a writer and novelist and I think he is also a wonderful writer and I’m so happy that I get to read his books. Sadly he is no longer with us. Fun fact, his birthday is also in March, it’s only three days after mine, I think that is so cool. We have the same star sign which kind of explains why I resonate so much with his work, we are so alike in many different ways.

It’s a real joy to read his books. His writing is so beautiful, sometimes it’s funny but it can also be very touching at times. I find his books to be really comforting, they warm my bones and they take me to a totally different time. He’s just got that British charm. He is just one of those writers who you just constantly want to be reading all the time and not get tired of him. He is like the friend I never had, there are times when I want to give him a hug,  I just love learning about him and the more I read his books, the more I love him. It’s encouraged me to watch more of his films now. He seems like a very interesting character.

If you have seen some of his films and you want to get to know a bit more about him, I totally recommend you check out some of his literary work, as well as being a terrific actor he also has a great writing talent and he can really take you into his world and once you enter his world you wouldn’t want to leave, it’s truly wonderful. I suggest you read the first three from 1977 to 1978 to 1983 to start off with because they’re so wonderful. I’m really enjoying his autobiographies however I also have some volumes of letters on my bookshelves in my room, I’m so excited to read them all. They’re quite lengthy and hefty in comparison with all the others I’ve read but I am going to make time for them at some point.

His books made me fall in love with reading again. They’re just so lovely to read and very cosy. Such a delight and a joy to read, I totally recommend these books to anyone who is starting to like his cinema and screen work.

That’s all for this post, I hope you all liked it. I hope you all have a wonderful day wherever you are right now, love you all, stay tuned for more work on Big Blog Theory.
