Linda Lewis: A Fan Post

Hi everyone, welcome back to Big Blog Theory, I hope you’re all doing well. Today I thought I’d write another music post, just talking about some of my music interests, obsessions and what I’m currently listening to in terms of music. Today I’ll be talking about Linda Lewis

If you’re not very familiar with her, basically she was the first black, British female singer/ songwriter to enter the UK singles chart. She made some great music in the seventies and also the eighties. I just love her so much, she was so pretty, fabulous and she had such a wonderful, beautiful, angelic singing voice, she was such a great talent. She has always been one of my favourite singers.

Her 1977 album Woman Overboard I absolutely adore, I’ve played it so many times. In fact I also have the vinyl of it in my record collection, it’s such a wonderful album. Every single song on there is just gold dust. It’s sort of a cross between disco, soul but there’s also some blues and folk going on there too with the Harmonika and guitar in one two of her songs.  Some of my favourite songs on the album are You Came, Shining, Bonfire, The Moon And I, My Friend The Sun, Light Years Away, So Many Mysteries To Find and Never Been Done Before, which is almost the whole album except for maybe one or two songs that I’ve missed but really I do love the whole album in it’s entirety. It’s one of my comfort albums that I always go back to. It’s feel good music but it’s also just really beautiful stuff. No matter how many times I’ve listened to the album, I never seem to get sick of it, it’s perfect in every sense of the word.

If you haven’t yet listened to her music, I do recommend you check her out and listen to it because honestly, you won’t be disappointed at all. She was just a star and a wonderful talent, I don’t think we’ll see the likes of her again, she was truly a once in a generation talent. I’ll always be listening to her music, she was just wonderful, wasn’t she?
