The Hackney Diaries Script, We Have Our Days .

{ Joe and Hayley are walking outside }

Joe} Hayley, why did you force me to cover the hole in the wall ?.

Hayley} Well, somebody had to take care of it, you can’t just leave it there .

Joe} Yeah, but you also threatened to murder me .

Hayley} Joe,  do you know on how the world works ?.

Joe} What the hell is that got to do with anything ?.

{ They see, somebody stealing Hayley’s bin } .

Hayley} What ?, oiiiiiiii , come back here, you bloody thief .

Joe} You should go easy .

Hayley} Who told you to speak ?.

Joe} Hey excuse me, can you please , kindly give back the dust bin , and nobody gets hurt .

Hayley} What are you doing with my dustbin ?.

Neighbor} What are you talking about ?, this is my dust bin .

Hayley} You liar .

Joe} Hayley go easy, it’s only a dustbin , you don’t need to turn Phycho .

Hayley} Yes I do, it’s the principal .

Neighbor} Why don’t you just go away, you don’t know on who you are messing with .

Joe} Oh, you wanna try me { Rolling his sleeves up } .

Hayley} The guy takes kung Fu lessons, and makes holes in the walls , you don’t want to mess with him .

Neighbor} Well, I know more .

Hayley} Oh shut up, you pretentious piffler .

Joe} What the heck, Hayley ?.

Hayley} Don’t worry , it works all the time .

Joe} Is this your self defense , calling somebody a piffler ?.

Hayley} Well, verbal violence is better than actual violence .

Joe} Yeah, that is coming from the person who does violence very often .

Hayley} Look, don’t bring me back to yesterday’s discussion .

Joe} Did you really have to start all of that malaki , all because of a bin ?.

Hayley} Hey, if somebody steals my bin , I make sure I get it back .

Joe} Yeah, but you act like it’s something serious, like it’s your friend or something , why do you act like that ?.

Hayley} Don’t you dare  ask me , why I act like that, it’s none of your buisiness .

Joe} Well, I totally understand that you look after your belongings , I’m like that too .

Hayley} Oh, do you though ?.

Joe} Yes, it happens to me a lot .

Hayley} Do you ever go mad over losing your belongings ?.

Joe} Well, it’s not like I ever talk about it .

Hayley} I lost my phone once, I ran across the street  screaming , ” My bloody phone, my bloody phone ”.  the people stared at me , like I was nuts, they thought I was mad, never found the phone again , I brought another one , but the memory lived forever .

Joe} Yeah, unfortunately , some things don’t change .

Hayley} Yeah, belongings are important , one day it’s here, the next day , it’s gone .

Joe} How did you lose your phone , anyway ?.

Hayley} It fell out of my bag .

Joe} Ok, how did it fall out ?.

Hayley} I was moving, you dummie .

Joe} I know but, why would it fall out by you walking ?.

Hayley} Well, things don’t move by force, don’t they ?.

Joe} No, I guess not .

Hayley} Do you have any stories of you , losing things , surely , I’m not the only one .

Joe} You are not the only one who loses things , but I don’t want to ride the conversation out .

Hayley} Why are you so insecure in telling me ?.

Joe} Things may be different for you , at least you get stuff back , there were times when , things never got close to that .

Hayley} Well, I am not here , bragging about me losing things , so I guess, that’s it .

Joe} Yeah but, you don’t understand , the way everything works is very strange , it all works in very mysterious ways , phones don’t matter , neither do bins , what do bins do ?, they are only helpful for recycling use, they don’t sit and talk to you , they don’t comfort you when you are sad , they are just pieces of tin , metal, plastic .

Hayley} Yeah, Oh god, I’m gonna cry now, all thanks to you .

Joe} It’s ok, you can if you want .

Hayley} You can open up to me, I’m all ears .

Joe} Ok , my dad died when I was 5 , he was my best friend , my life felt very empty , yeah, it’s very hard .{ Tearing up } .

Hayley} Omg, I’m very sorry, I’m here for you .

 

Joe} Thank you  .

Hayley} Yeah Nothing gold can stay, sorry, I just had to make a Outsiders reference .

Joe} Yeah, it’s ok .

Hayley} No matter , how many times , I insulted, beaten you up , it means nothing .

Joe} Ok ,  you are the best friend I ever had  .

Hayley} You too , life is very hard, but we’ll soldier on, we’ll make it in the end .

Joe} It’s very tough, but the thing that hurts the most is that, his last words were ” tomorrow is another day ”, and tomorrow will be a good day, and see you tomorrow ” .

Hayley} Omg, it hurts a lot , he’ll be in our prayers .

Joe} Yeah .

Hayley} You know what, I’m gonna give the dustbin back .

Joe} Say what ?.

Hayley} Yes I am , and I think that it’s time that we made out with our neighbors , I mean, what did they do to harm us ?.

Joe} Yeah, I think that , that is a great idea , they did nothing to us , it was mainly all us .

Hayley} Ok let’s go .

{ They turned up at Daisy’s door}

Hayley and Joe} Hey .

Daisy} Oh, hello again, what’s wrong with you ?, you look like you have a face of a slapped ass .

Joe{ Get’s ready to punch her}

Hayley} Woah hey, we talked about this .

Joe} Fine .

Hayley} Ok, we thought that it was time that we apologized to you, for all of the drama that we caused for you , it was very cruel .

Daisy} Yeah no, we are very sorry too , we shouldn’t of write those complaints , it was the wrong thing to do .

Hayley} Ok , that is very nice .

Joe} So are we cool ? .

Daisy} Yes, of course we are, we are at the beginning again .

Joe} Great .

Hayley and Joe{ Hugs Daisy}

Joe} Ok, well, we better get going .

Hayley} Yeah, we’ll catch you later .

Daisy} Ok bye .

Joe} Hey .

Hayley} Yes .

Joe} Shall we watch a film ?.

Hayley} Yes .

Joe} The Outsiders ?.

Hayley} You just read my mind .

Joe} Ok, don’t take the piss out of me, if I start tearing up .

Hayley} I can never make that promise .

{Joe and Hayley laughing }

10 minutes later}

Hayley yawning} Ok, I need to get ready to go home, now , .

Joe} Ok, .

Hayley} Stay gold , Joe , stay gold .

Joe} Oh , don’t do this to me, you know that if you stay gold, you can’t stay .

Hayley} Yeah, but that is in the film, neither Dallas and Johnny could stay , at least, that’s what they say .

Joe} Yeah .

Hayley} Wouldn’t it be great, if everybody could stay gold, what a nice world, we will live in , the world would be a better place .

Joe} Yeah, that would be something else, anyway, see ya .

Hayley} Stay gold .

Joe} Stay gold, my friend .
