Ghosts

Yesterday, I finished watching a TV series, which is called, Ghosts . Ghosts is a British sitcom which is about this couple, their names are Mike and Alison, and they move into this house, but little did they know, was that there was gonna be ghosts in the house . I honestly loved it, I love it so much, I feel like it’s the best series I have watched in a very long time, no TV show has had that effect on me like Ghosts did . The cast is amazing, half of the cast were from Horrible Histories, I loved Horrible Histories when I was younger, I used to watch it with my dad all the time, growing up, I still do, believe it or not, but not much as I used to . But I have been doing this thing where I go back and watch all of them, from the first episode to the last, I absolutely love Horrible Histories, it’s one of the most funniest sketch shows for kids and grown ups, it’s amazing. So I love the cast very much, they are brilliant, their dynamic and friendships are amazing, that’s what makes any TV show magical . Ghosts was a joy to watch, I was laughing, I was crying, it was absolute perfection . Just a bunch of mad ghosts who live in this house, it’s absolutely brilliant, it’s a great concept for a TV show, I must say . I felt like all the characters were my friends, they were like family, they were like the friends I never knew I had, no TV show has the ability to do that . I have never cried at a TV show in so long, when I finished it, it felt empty, I need series 4, asap .

 

{Talking about my favourite characters}

 

Okay, so I have many favourite characters, it’s so hard to choose, cause I love all of them, they are all amazing in their own ways, but I would have to say Thomas. Thomas is one of my favourite characters, I just love him so much, he’s so kind, funny and loving, I can see how he can be creepy sometimes, cause he can turn up when you don’t want him to, but he’s very likeable, he’s only my favourite character because he’s played by Mathew Baynton, I love Matt Baynton, he’s amazing, what a great guy . Thomas is so funny, in every scene, he’s just sitting there in the corner, minding his own business, haha, he has some of the best lines and quotes, I quote them on a daily basis . ” Answer the question, damn your eyes !!! ”, is without a doubt, one of my favourite Thomas Thorne quotes, it’s so funny, he looked absolutely demented when he said that, another one of my favourite quotes is, ” Unbearable, you say ?, untalented, you say ?, damn your eyes, I say, damn your head, shoulders, knees and toes, sir ”, it’s so brilliant, I’m gonna start saying that, from now on, haha . Thomas would be one of those characters who would be fun to be around, he can sometimes be over bearing, cause, he can turn up, unexpectedly, and it’s not the best situation when you’re busy with something, so I can see how that may be a problem, but other then that, I think that me and Thomas would get on really well . Me and Thomas both love poetry, so it can be something that we can bond over . I’m still emotionally recovering from The Thomas Thorne Affair episode, poor Thomas, ay, poor geezer, he really loved that woman and he got shot and he was sitting by the tree, waiting for that woman to go and see him and she didn’t even go and see him, it’s so sad, Thomas has always lived a life of love . I think Matt really portrayed Thomas so brilliantly, such a great story arc for a character . I love Thomas so much, I can’t stop thinking about him, he’s so cute, that scene with him dancing to Friday, I’m In Love by The Cure was the best thing ever, and he was like ” It speaks to me, it speaks to me ”, so adorable, Thomas dancing to The Cure gives me life, haha, it always makes me smile, as well as the Kylie Minogue thing . He got into The Cure, now he needs to get into The Smiths, I need Thomas dancing to The Smiths, I need that in my life.  Throughout the series, Thomas develops feelings for Alison, like he’s in love with her, but like, you can just see Alison, she’s like ” What are you bloody doing, Thomas, I’m married, I have a husband ”, like it’s so funny .Thomas’s death is so sad, it broke my heart. His facial expressions are so hilarious. I just love Thomas so much and it will stay that way . I will forever remember Mathew Baynton as Thomas Thorne or any other character that he played in Horrible Histories . Thomas was a poet from the regency times, he hates Lord Byron with a passion, he believes that Lord Byron stole his ideas, he had a strong hate for him throughout the series, which is so brilliant, it’s a great idea for a character, I think it works really well . Thomas owns my heart, I will always have a special place in my heart for Thomas, I feel like I’m the only one in my family who feels like this . Love Mathew Baynton, he’s a national treasure, would love to meet him some day, he’s so nice . If I end up becoming a writer, later on in life, I really want Matt to star in one of my films or TV shows, I just love him so much . I know him from so many films and TV shows . Like Ghosts, Yonderland, Spy, Telstar, The Joe Meek Story, Peep Show, Bill,  The Wrong Mans, Horrible Histories, Gavin And Stacey, You Me And The Apocolypse, all those sorts of films and TV shows . Thomas would be one of those characters who would just shove really shit poetry in your face . Like some of his poetry is really bad . Like that poem he did when him and Alison were sitting down, watching the sun go down . He was like ” The sun, round like a yellow bun, you must weigh a ton ”, like what the hell is that ?, haha, that’s not even poetry, that’s just shit . That’s me trying to think of a poem, putting one together and it doesn’t even make sense, that’s relatable . I love Thomas . I love him way more then I probably should . I feel like if Thomas wasn’t played by Mathew Baynton, we would all probably hate him, cause he’s creepy, like we only love him cause he’s played by Mathew Baynton, Mathew Baynton can make any character likable .

Another one of my favourite characters is Pat Butcher . I love Pat Butcher, he is a bundle of joy, he’s so fun, he’s sweet, he’s a great character, he is so underrated. Jim Howick plays the role of our beloved Pat Butcher, love Jim Howick, I remember him from Horrible Histories, he also played Gerard in Peep Show, absolutely brilliant . The radio show scene with Pat and Thomas was hilarious, they pretended to do like a little radio show by using a paranormal detecting device, love that scene so much, Thomas was sitting there, thinking ” What on earth ”, haha, the look on his face gets me every time . Sign a petition to make Button FM a thing. We need it to be a real thing . I really want Mathew Baynton and Jim Howick to do a special radio show, playing their characters from the show, that would be amazing . Pat Butcher is a great character, loved him .

Kitty is another one of my favourite characters from the show . I love Kitty, she’s amazing . She’s so fun and cheerful . She looks for the best in everyone . How she died was really heart breaking, her sister was a really nasty person . Kitty would be an amazing friend, if we were friends, we would have so much fun, we would watch films and have sleepovers, it would be a lot of fun . Kitty is definetly one of my favourite characters from the show, she’s so down to earth and she’s very easy going .

Captain is another one of my favourite characters from the show . I loved Captain, he was great .  Captain, our gay icon, He is the definition of when gay representation is done properly, you don’t make his sexuality his entire personality, the writing for the character was done brilliantly . ”For King And The Country ”, is a quote that lives rent free at the back of my mind, I just imagine seeing him running outside with a batton in his hand, haha, whoever thought of that is a genius . The Modern Major General song is absolutely brilliant, it made the scene even more funny, knowing that Alison was trying to sleep and she could finally hear him . Captain is a great character, with a very sad back story . Ben Willbond is absolutely brilliant, he portrayed that character brilliantly .

Julian is another one of my favourite characters from the show . Julian is absolutely brilliant . Julian Fawcett is like a typical Labour MP, like absolute sleaze, haha., I don’t know whether he’s conservative or Labor, but he’s one of them  The role of Julian is played by our beloved Simon Farnaby, I remember him from Horrible Histories, he was brilliant in that . Throughout the series, he is seen with no trousers on, that just gives you a clue about his death, half the time, he’s just walking around with no trousers on, it’s like ” Put your trousers back on, you stinker ”, haha, you know what I mean, it’s just so funny . Every time he does that thing when he tries to knock something over or when he tries to push a button on a remote control, he just looks like he’s taking a shit or something, it’s almost like he’s pushing out a shit, haha, I can’t help but laugh every time he does that . I wouldn’t say that he’s my favourite character, but he is quite funny, so I’d say that he is one of my favourites, somehow .

Mary is another one of my favourite characters from the show . Mary was amazing . She was so funny. I didn’t even know what she was on about, half of the time, but she was really funny , she’s definetely one of the most nicest characters in the show, she’s very genuine. Her death was absolutely heart breaking, it’s actually quite devestating that that sort of thing actually happened back in the day, absolutely awful . Mary really carried the show on her back, her lines and quotes are absolutely brilliant . Mary is played by our amazing Katy Wix, Katy Wix is a great actress, I know her from a show called Stath Lets Flats, Stath Lets Flats is one of my all time favourite sitcoms, it’s brilliant .

Alison is another one of my favourite characters from the show . You really feel sorry for Alison, she is just driven mad by all the ghosts, she was almost driven to her death, you just see her completely losing it, haha . Alison is just really likeable . The role of Alison is played by Charlotte Ritchie, all I have to say is that she’s amazing, she killed this role . I’m definetely gonna have to check out some of the other stuff that she’s done, she’s amazing .

Mike is another one of my favourite characters from the show . Mike is so underrated, like he was so funny . Mike is Alison’s husband, he was really chilled and understanding, whilst Alison was going completely mad about the ghost shit . ” Daddy’s gonna drill a hole in the wall ”, is such a hilarious quote, especially his voice when he was singing that, then Fanny turns up behind him and says ” No, daddy’s not gonna drill any holes in the walls ”, it was so funny . The funniest thing is that Alison can see and hear the ghosts but Mike can’t, so he just thinks that she’s going mad, the whole time, it’s absolutely brilliant . Kiell Smith Bynoe was absolutely brilliant .

Robin is another one of my favourite characters from the show . Robin is a cave man, he is absolutely brilliant . He just says the funniest things, he tells stories about him getting attacked by a bear, he is the most weirdest character, but he’s hilarious . Definetely one of the most smartest characters in the show, he’s very smart for a cave man .

Fanny is another one of my favourite characters from the show . Fanny is known as the grey lady . She is a really funny character . She pretty much has something to say about everything, she just says what’s on her mind, not afraid to call out bullshit . Martha Howe Douglas plays the role of Fanny . I love Martha Howe Douglas, she’s amazing, I know her from Horrible Histories . She actually looks unrecognizable, because her character looks a bit old, I guess it’s the makeup . Fanny had some really funny moments . Her facial expressions kill me every time . She’s great .

Humphrey is another one of my favourite characters from the show . Humphrey is a great character . You may see his head detatched from his body and you will see his head floating about, considering his head is de tatched from his body throughout the entire series . Humphrey is a great character, he’s really nice and genuine, probably one of the most normal ones out of all of them . Humphrey had a very unfortunate life . His marriage was arranged and he married a French woman and you could just see that she didn’t really love him. His death was a surprise to me . You would of thought that he would of got executed by the guards, but instead, he got beheaded by two swords that fell from the fire place . The bit where Robin just suddenly appears in his flash back, is so funny. You realize how all of them were there, I think that’s really clever . You really feel sorry for Humphrey, half the time, because his head just gets kicked around a lot and you could see him losing it, haha, absolutely brilliant . Laurence Rickard is absolutely amazing . And to think that he plays two characters, he plays Robin and Humphrey, that’s absolutely brilliant . He’s a really good actor .

There were loads of side characters that I love as well. The Plague Lot were brilliant . The Plague victims in the plague pit really carry the show . I actually missed them in series 3, but I love that they showed a small snippet of them in the last episode of series 3, it made me so happy . Just a bunch of people who caught the plague and ended up in the pit . Unfortunatly, that was also real. The plague pits did exist back in the olden days, it’s dreadful. They had some really funny moments . Whoever came up with those characters are an absolute genius . I love how all the actors just play different characters . The Plague victims are just played by all the actors, which is really clever . Mathew Baynton plays the role of Mick, as well the rest of the cast . I’m gutted that we didn’t see much of the Plague lot in series 3, I think I know why though . I think it’s because they filmed series 3 during the pandemic and they had to take safety precautions, so they had to keep a distance . I totally understand that, I think the room where they had the plague pit was quite close confined and it wasn’t sutable for the actors and actresses to be in there, so I totally understand that . You have to give it to them, I fully respect that .

My favourite quotes from Thomas Thorne

” Answer the question, damn your eyes !!! ”. This has to be one of my all time favourite quotes from Thomas . It’s so funny. Especially cause he just looked demented whilst saying it . There will just be times where Thomas will be quite mad and aggressive and when that happens, he comes up with the funniest stuff, so demented Thomas is my favourite Thomas . 100 % . After he said that, he instantly became my new favourite character . Thomas is just brilliant .

”  Utter toffee, You couldn’t negotiate your way out of a corn maze ”. This has to be another one of my favourite Thomas Thorne quotes for a number of reasons . Pretty much all his quotes are brilliant .

” Divorce him, kill yourself, marry me ”. This has to be one of my all time favourite quotes . You could just see how Thomas was going through that whole Romeo and Juliet phase .

” I’m going to drown myself in a lake, I mean it ”. This is a really good quote .

” What is a Kylie Men Ogue ?”. This quote is just really funny. Especially when he apologizes to Kylie because he stole the idea .

” Pistol, I always choose pistol ”. Especially because Thomas looked mad when he said this, Julien was like ” What the hell is this man doing ?”.

I just really love Ghosts, it was such a joy to watch. Because I grew up, watching Horrible Histories, it was amazing to see everyone come back and make another show together . I just love the whole cast. I love Mathew Baynton, words cannot explain how much I love him, he’s amazing . Any character played by him, I’m garanteed to like it . I just love how they did it, it was so perfectly written . It was sad at times, it was funny at times, there is no show that has affected me like that . When you finish watching the series, you just feel empty and it feels like all the ghosts are your closest friends, it feels like family, such an amazing show . I heard that they made an American version of the show, I’ve heard that it’s not as good, you can’t touch British Humor, American Humor and British Humor are two different things, you can’t get a bunch of actors and expect that it’s gonna be the same, you just can’t, every actor and actress brings something new to the table . The cast makes it work, it’s their dynamic . I’m so looking forward to series 4, I already know it’s gonna be amazing .
