Favourite Films I’m Looking Forward To Watching Again

There are certain films I really love, there are certain films that make me feel a certain type of way emotionally when I watch them. My list of favourite films goes on forever because I like so many films from different decades. Mostly I’m really into those old British movies of the thirties, forties, fifties and sixties in terms of music films, comedies, dramasĀ  or horror or mystery films but I also really love films from the seventies and some from the eighties too depending on what they are. I love these kinds of films, they’re great. They’re from a totally different time and some of those films you learn about the characters and their stories and you just fall in love with them and at the end of the film, you come away from it all feeling like you know these characters like they are your friends or something, I think that’s incredible. Just by watching some of these wonderful films, I have learnt a lot about British cinema. As well as having so many favourite movies, there are some films that I would love to watch again, here are some of them.

Asylum {1972}. I’ve talked about this film on my blog before, it’s incredible. An anthology/ Hammer horror film entirely set in a creepy old asylum. Robert Powell plays a doctor who turns up at the asylum investigating all the goings on in the asylum and he tries to find out who the main doctor is. He thinks he knows all but he is soon proven wrong and soon enough he is out of his depth. It’s very gripping, spooky and exciting. Robert Powell was amazing in it and I’m just going to say he looked so cute and handsome in that suit. As the film goes on, the patients tell their stories of how they ended up there in the first place. It’s very fun, I love the stories in it too. I remember one Halloween night, me and my dad watched this and I really loved it so it became one of my favourite films. Fantastic horror film. If you love spooky films that have a couple of stories that are rolled into one, then you’ll love this. This is the ultimate film to watch with your friends on a movie night, it’s great and it’ll have you on the edge of your seat. I wouldn’t advise you to watch it if you’re sitting on a chair because you will get scared and fall off.

Another great film starring Robert Powell, it’s called Harlequin, it came out in 1980, it’s Australian. This film was really strange and creepy but I really loved it. I’ve mentioned it once before. Robert Powell plays this demented faith healer who is known for doing good and curing a child’s illness so they all hail him as the new messiah but is also just a menace and he probably does more harm than good. I was enthralled by his performance in this film, he was terrifying. It’s really different compared to a lot of other horror films of the horror genre. Personally, I think it’s more of a mystery than horror but it’s equally demented and disturbing. It became one of my favourite films, just the way it was shot. Robert was incredible and he gave a performance that almost creeps me the hell out because his character is absolutely menacing. You really had no idea who this guy was and suddenly you realise he’s not as he seems. Brilliant film with a great cast, I’m happy to say it’s one of my favourites. That outfit he wore throughout the film was mental.

The Italian Job 1969. Of course I’m going to watch this film again, this is my ultimate favourite film. I love all the characters, I love the soundtrack, it’s so funny and it makes me laugh all the time. Brings me so much joy. I mean, who doesn’t love seeing Michael Caine trying to deal with the mafia? It’s a great crime caper and you’ll fall in love with all the characters and the havoc they get up to. I love this film so much that I write scripts with all the characters. Robert Powell’s character Yellow is one of my favourite characters in the film, I love him so much. I mean, what else would you expect from a love sick Robert Powell fan girl? I write scripts about me and him in my free time. I tried out this new writing technique where you can write letters to any favourite fictional character from a film, TV show or book and I chose The Italian Job because it’s my favourite film. You choose a character and you put yourself in a room with them and have a conversation with them, like you guys are friends or something, it’s really cool. It’s almost like I was a part of this story, it’s amazing. I just do it for fun in my spare time. I recommend you try doing it yourself some time. Find a character that you love and write a letter or a script about them. And when you do that, you can blow the bloody doors off, ha ha ha.

Chariots Of Fire 1981, I adore this movie so much. I watched it some point this year, I cried several times, I laughed several times, I love the characters, the soundtrack is amazing, Vangelis was a genius. It’s a running film but it’s not just about running, it’s also about friendship, love, standing up for what you believe in. Wonderful film with an amazing cast. It made me feel a certain type of way. Just pure magic. They don’t make films like this anymore. This is an iconic film and I’m proud to say it’s one of my favourite films.

Melody 1971, one of my all time faves. Beautiful film, it’s funny, it’s also sad at times. A very beautiful story and it makes me happy but it also makes me sad too. I just really adore this film. I need to watch it again so I could feel all the emotions I felt when I first watched this film. I really love the music in it too.
